Kayak Flint

Since 2009, FRWC has offered group paddle trips led by our certified guides across the watershed. Now branded as Kayak Flint, our paddle program has expanded to include educational and mindfulness paddles, iKayak workshops (giving seniors and those with varying abilities the opportunity to get on the water safely), and a full service livery. We make it easy for folks to get on the water by providing all the resources necessary for paddlers to enjoy the Flint River National Water Trail.

Kayak Flint's rental and livery is our most recognizable paddle program. Co-managed by FRWC and its Corridor Alliance chapter, Kayak Flint’s livery service operates May through October in downtown Flint and provides kayak rentals and shuttling to make your adventure on the Flint River as easy and enjoyable as possible.

When using Kayak Flint's rental service, paddlers will park, pick up equipment (every rental includes a boat, paddles, and life jackets), and launch from the stepped landing at our launch site, currently located behind Tenacity Brewing. The approximately 3-mile trip takes 1-2 hours, depending on water levels, and ends at Mitson Boulevard/Riverview Landing. The Kayak Flint team then picks up paddlers and equipment and returns to the launch site in downtown Flint.

Kayak Flint also offers stand-alone shuttling service for those who choose to use their own kayaks. Paddlers launch from Kayak Flint, and our team will pick up paddlers and equipment from the Mitson Landing with our van and trailer and return you to Kayak Flint for a reduced rate.
