Stewardship Days

Ages: 4+

Program Opportunity:

  • Pick up trash
  • Clear brush/trail work
  • Gardening & Painting
  • Clear invasive species


Volunteer Opportunity:

Serve as site coordinators and/or participants for annual spring event and ongoing efforts.

Time:

2-4 hours

Storm Drain Stenciling

Ages: 7+

Program Opportunity:

  • Spray paint storm drains
  • Hang information cards
  • Pick up trash


Volunteer Opportunity:

Groups of 4 or more canvass neighborhoods to distribute educational materials and stencil storm drains.

Time:

2 hours

Benthic Monitoring

Ages: 8+

Program Opportunity:

  • Collect & identify macroinvertebrates
  • Take stream measurements
  • Classroom opportunities


Volunteer Opportunity:

Groups of 2 or more collect and identify organisms to assess stream habitat. Training available. No experience necessary.

Time:

Program: 1-3 hours

Volunteer Training: 3 hours

  • Career exploration
  • Civic action projects

Volunteer Opportunity:

Experts in environmental fields can serve as classroom mentors or Summit presenters. Others can help with inventory and data entry.

Time:

Training: 8 hours

Class time: 10 hours

River Cleanups

  • Work with hand tools
  • Safely remove river obstructions while preserving wildlife habitat


Volunteer Opportunity:

Seeking volunteers willing to help with the removal of trash and debris in and along the river in Genesee and Lapeer Counties.

Varies based on cleanup location
